Expression of Interest - Learning Support - Lead Adviser (Secondment)

Mō tēnei tūranga | About the role
The Learning Support Lead Adviser is a key role in the Network team. The role is focussed on supporting and advising on substantial pieces of work in Auckland to plan for and develop the learning support network in Auckland. The Lead Adviser is responsible for taking a systems view in responding to growth and demand for specialist settings in the school network and providing oversight on the specialist work programme in Auckland.
You will prepare information to support planning and provision in specialist settings, focusing on inclusion of students with high and complex needs. You will work across the Ministry with Asset Management, Capital Works, Learning Support, Education Managers and the National Learning Support team on the development and implementation of our Learning Support Network Plan, ensuring equity of access and inclusivity for our most vulnerable learners.

- Experience and knowledge of the learning support sector is desirable (whether that be in planning, management, policy, education, or asset management) but is not essential for this secondment opportunity
- The ability to use and interrogate a broad range of data and information to support learning support network planning and delivery
- The ability to develop effective and credible working relationships at all levels with internal and external stakeholders
- The resilience to deal with pressure in a mature way
- The ability to contribute to the design and implementation of strategic and operational procedures
- Sound project management skills
- Sound judgement to appropriately manage risk
- Excellent writing and communication skills

Te Pae Aronui is the Ministry's operation and integration group (Find out more about Te Pae Aronui via this link) We work closely with our Ministry, sector and government agency colleagues to ensure early childhood services, schools, kura and communities have the support they need to achieve the best education outcomes for all children and young people.
The Education Network team is responsible for making sure that schools are inclusive and accessible to all, and that our network of schools provides a clear pathway for learning for ākonga/students. Our national and regional staff keep an eye on where the network needs to adapt to meet the changing needs of ākonga and their whānau. This includes considering options such as providing additional classrooms for English Medium, Learning Support, and Māori Medium networks to meet demand, building new schools, proposing a school merger or closure and preparing area strategies.
