Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role
Do you have passion and experience in seeing ākonga/students achieve at foundation level?
We have a 6-month fixed term, fulltime (1.0) position in Foundation Pathways for a Kaiako/Tutor to teach on Te Ara Pūtake, our Study and Employment Preparation programme (level 4). The role is suitable for either an academic staff member (ASM) or a senior academic staff member (SASM) dependent on skills and experience.
The position starts in January 2025 in preparation for teaching in semester 1.
The Kaiako/Tutor role is based in our Wintec | Te Pūkenga within Te Kura Pūtake Me Ngā Mahi Whakaako, the Centre for Education and Foundation Pathways and will be responsible for:
- Teaching essential academic study skills to foundation students. You will be part of a team that promotes ākonga centred learning to enable students to pathway with confidence to degree level study or employment.
- Implementing effective teaching and learning strategies to achieve successful outcomes for diverse groups of students.
- Supporting Māori and Pacific ākonga to succeed; familiarity with whanaungatanga me te manaakitanga and some knowledge of Te Reo Māori, me ona tikanga would be an advantage.

**To be successful in this role you will have**:
- A relevant bachelor’s degree or post-graduate qualification and an Adult Education qualification
- A professional attitude and well-developed interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for team collaboration
- A culturally responsive practice that reflects Te Ao Māori, Matauranga Māori, Pacific worldviews and pedagogy
- Teaching experience and passion for ākonga centred education and competence in curriculum development and academic processes
