mō te tūranga - About the role
We are looking for an experienced well-established Interventional Cardiologist to provide general and interventional services and provide corporative leadership for the cardiac medical team to facilitate high quality care to patients.
The successful applicant will be involved in facilitating the
development of a regional PCI service, as well as provide diagnostic and treatment services
for patients in the central region.
The role holder will be expected to
encourage innovation and quality in the development of services and to provide
a strategic view of the direction for future service development. To this end,
they will be expected to undertake clinical audit and quality improvement
projects as well as clinical research. They will engage with other providers,
consumers, and health organisations to
improve the quality and responsiveness of services and should possess highly
developed relationship and communication skills, a sound understanding of
clinical governance and the ability to work within the multi-disciplinary
model.
Main focus of the role is on Coronary
intervention including the interventional treatment of stable coronary
artery disease and acute coronary syndromes and their complications.
Experience in the treatment of structural
heart disease is desirable but not mandatory for the role, including experience
in obtaining and assessing associated cardiac imaging.
They will provide medical practice that
delivers a sustainable high quality cardiology service meeting the needs of the
department and region.

The Cardiology
Network is a secondary and tertiary service provided for Capital and Coast and
Hutt Valley hospitals and those of the central region of New Zealand.
The Cardiology
Network at Capital Coast and Hutt includes Outpatient Clinics - Cardiac Diagnostic Testing, the Heart and Lung Unit at
Wellington Hospital and the Coronary Care Unit at Hutt Hospital and the Cardiac Interventional
Suite.
Capital and Coast
Cardiology Service is jointly accredited as an SCT training facility with the
Hutt Valley Cardiology Service.
Moū - About you
- Vocationally registered in Internal Medicine (Cardiology) with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FRACP or equivalent qualification and be able to register for with the MCNZ
- Should

meet the minimum requirements set in the Cardiac Society - s - Position Statement
for Competency in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
- Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team - Interventional Cardiologists, other medical, nursing and technical staff
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- Participate in an on-call roster
