**About the role**
Reporting to the Fleet & Asset Programme Manager, the Fleet Asset Planning Manager is responsible for leading the asset management system to deliver integrated requirements for the internal system and outcomes for the NZ Navy within budget and schedule.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership of the Fleet Asset Management Functions and the Wider Engineering Services (ES) as a key member of the ES leadership team
- Be a role model, consistently demonstrating the Babcock principles and leadership behaviours, coach and mentor team members, the wider organisation and customer groups
- Ensure the delivery of a fit for purpose maintenance schedule for the RNZN that considers required availability, reliability, and operating context
- Lead technical investigations in system reliability; identify maintenance requirements to maintain performance and reliability
- Maintain the material state and reliability of the fleet through generation and management of Asset Management Plan (AMPs) that enables informed engineering decisions, reducing risk and being more cost effective
- Production of AMPs to provide integrated through life management of equipment that informs the NZDF risk, availability constraints and budget requirements
- Ensure team is able to deliver the required outputs and any deficiencies are identified and solutions implemented. Develop, deploy and maintain policies and procedures and work instructions to maintain Engineering Services outputs
- Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of Asset Management and Reliability Engineering
**About you**
You will be a proven leader with a background in engineering or asset management. A self-starter with the ability to communicate with impact, drive change and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement in line with the requirements of the business.

- Have an authentic and inspirational leadership style
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables and lead through complexity and ambiguity
- Customer focused, cultivating a culture of mutual respect, collaboration and cooperation
- Team player able to work in a consultative and collaborative multidisciplinary team to deliver the ‘bigger picture’ and relate to senior leadership

- Ability to drive change and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement in line with the requirements of the business
- Good business communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to assess stakeholders and engage at appropriate levels to achieve desired outcomes
- Self-starter who can operate where no previous systems, process people and technology exists
**Qualifications and experience**
- Postgraduate Degree in appropriate discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience
- Chartered / Incorporated Engineer Status
- 10+ years’ experience in engineering or asset management
- Experience of Naval operations, marine engineering principles, regulatory frameworks ad whole of life asset management
