Based in Oromairaki within Toka Hapāi (Selwyn Health Hub) as well as other
maternity facilities in Ōtautahi (Christchurch)
- Permanent positions available part time minimum 0.4FTE up to full time 1.0FTE
- Be part of a dynamic new birthing
unit within a community health hub
- Work across the Women - s Health
Service as required Mō te tūnga | About the role
We have a wonderful opportunity for Registered Midwives to join our team alongside Lead Maternity Care
midwives, committed to facilitating birthing in the community. The FTE will be negotiated with successful applicants.
The role requires
you to be available for all shifts within a
rolling roster or rostered to fill smaller gaps for smaller FTE. This position
will provide for the Oromairaki rostering in Selwyn as a priority. On occasion
if that unit is quiet we expect shifts may be moved to other maternity
facilities. We will also orientate you to our other facilities in Christchurch.
If you are not confident providing complex care you would not be expected to
work on birthing suite at Christchurch Women - s Hospital.
Christchurch Women - s Hospital (CWH), based in central Ōtautahi
(Christchurch), is a modern, acute teaching hospital for midwifery and
obstetrics. Canterbury has over 6000 births per annum and CWH is the tertiary
referral centre for the bulk of Te Waipounamu (the South Island). Kurawaka
Waipapa will open at the end of the year providing a primary birthing facility
in the central city.
Canterbury is fortunate to currently have three community units. In
May last year Oromairaki
replaced Lincoln Maternity Unit and is a contemporary new birthing unit within
the Selwyn Health Hub (Toka Hapāi) located in Rolleston. It is now a well-established 10-bed unit and
been embraced by the local community. Consequently, these roles advertised will
enable full double staffing to meet this demand.
