Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Our highly respected and relationship focused Global Careers Team provides agile and flexible people resourcing services to support the Ministry to ensure we have staff with the right skills where we need them, when we need them.

As any recruiter worth their salt will know however, recruitment teams are operating in a tough employment market right now, and like many similar teams in Wellington, this has been a factor in creating some significant gaps in our own team.

With challenges come opportunities and so we have decided to make the most of this time to rethink what we do and how we can work best as a team, to ensure we can keep adapting to the market and to the needs of the business while continuing to deliver great people resourcing outcomes for MFAT.

In the short term we are looking for experienced recruiters who are interested in joining our team on a fixed term, secondment or hourly rate contract basis to help us optimise our function and support inflight activity while some of our team go on leave and while we recruit new permanent members of the team.

However we also want to hear from you if you are looking for a new permanent role - either for now or early in the New Year.

We know that there are a lot of interesting opportunities out there for great recruiters, and like other in-house recruitment teams we enjoy partnering with the business to support hiring managers with end to end recruitment - but there are also quite a few things that makes us a bit different (and we think more interesting).
- Our team also plays an important part in the mobilisation of our foreign policy workforce which has foreign policy staff rotating through roles in N.Z, and also across around 60 offshore posts.
- We work closely with the business, with the wider People Division and with our foreign policy staff to identify development opportunities so that we can grow New Zealand's diplomats for the future.
- We have a brand new HRIS (SAP SuccessFactors) and there are opportunities to further adapt our processes to make the most of our new technology - as well as to support and educate our hiring managers to use it well.
- Our team members come from a variety of backgrounds and each of us has unique experiences to contribute - however one thing we all agree on is that it’s a great team in which to build our recruitment/talent acquisition skills and develop our knowledge of a fascinating organisation
- We are a collaborative team, we have each other’s back, we love trading kid and pet stories, going for coffees and sharing chocolate and feijoas; but we’re also ready to roll up our sleeves, help each other out, and do the mahi
