Downer’s surfacing division is highly respected and has a great track record for delivering a high standard of work. We have a full time, permanent position available as a Chipsealing Foreperson within our Nelson. This would be a position well suited to a proactive, energetic, passionate, and hardworking individual.
Your days will be busy leading the crew doing reseals and first coats. This ‘hands on’ role will require you to provide leadership by planning, providing direction and controlling activities whilst working alongside the team in the field.
You will be expected to ensure that work is completed to the satisfaction of our customers and that all Zero Harm and production targets are met.

Along with a positive attitude and your commitment to safe worksite practises, you will be an adaptable multitasker with excellent communication skills. You will have a proven ability to ensure proper care, maintenance and operation of appropriate plant and equipment.
- Previous experience in renewal chipsealing in a Foreperson capacity (preferable but not required)
- NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification, or at least one year of relevant experience
- Knowledge of and experienced in road construction/chipsealing specifications and procedures
- Team leadership skills and the ability to motivate and lead a team
- Strong safety focus
- A flexible work approach, as no two days are the same
- High standard of workmanship and quality focus
- Excellent communication skills
