Raising tamariki in a household when you are well resourced, have support and are excited to welcome a new addition, while rewarding, is still one of the most difficult experiences in life. Whānau Āwhina Plunket walk alongside caregivers across Aotearoa from all backgrounds, including those who are experiencing difficult periods or other issues which make their load more complex during an already demanding period. It is here where we are most required to make change.

**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

Plunket Nurses go far beyond weighing babies. Our duty of care means that issues such as family harm, substance addiction and high levels of deprivation can and do all co-exist with the clinical aspects of conducting our top to toe physical assessments. You will manage the case load within a community in Auckland**, **engaging with whānau once they are discharged from their midwife (or other LMC) through to around 2-3 years old. Imagine, literally watching your community grow before your eyes

We love what we do, being able to make decisions and work on your own is something that many of our Nurses highlight as a bonus for working with us. It is different from a hospital or GP clinic environment. Here are some things to know about our mahi:
**Flexibility**: no more weekends or nights, no putting in leave requests months in advance and hoping for the best. In return, a degree of flexibility is required - holding clinics & conducting home visits means it is not necessarily a 9-3 Monday - Friday, but it’s probably the closest you’ll find

**Working autonomously**: with a focus on supporting people in the community and in their own homes, for the most part, you work on your own; but the team are readily available for support and you will have a base clinic to connect to. It is a different experience, but if you’re up for a change, it is extremely rewarding
- Pay rates for our Registered Nurses are between $62,911 ($31.84 per hour) and $90,099 ($45.60 per hour) depending on experience_

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

Gaining and maintaining trust with our whānau is perhaps the most important aspect of this role. Having the people skills to form connections with parents and caregivers is key to this position. You will come to us with exceptional clinical skills, which will be tested daily as you conduct assessments on from 4 weeks through to 3 years.

Where we connect with clients with multiple needs, there will be a number of referrals to be written and sent, so a level of computer literacy is required for the role. Having an understanding of the Westport area will be advantageous.
