Chess Power is an exciting company that encourages children to play and enjoy Chess. We recognise learning and playing Chess has a number of benefits for kids and we love what we do. We are looking for a chess coach and gaming activities coordinator during the Chess Power Nationals being held at Wellington College on 26/27 October 2024.
**There are some essential character traits for being a great chess coach**:
- Excellent communication skills and command of the English language is essential.
- A passion for working with children in an encouraging and positive way
- A focus on children's learning and engagement to give them the very best learning experience
- A basic understanding of rules of Chess and the ability to play competently
- An ability to speak in front of an audience of school-aged children with confidence
- Reliable, able to work without supervision, punctual and have excellent organisation skills and personal presentation
- Own your own vehicle & possess a current driver's licence.
**This role primarily involves coaching children aged between 8-15 years old.**
This is a one-off role just over labour weekend (26/27 October).
The specific requirements are:
Fri 25 October 6:00pm - 11:00pm Set-up assistance
Sat 26 October 9:00am - 4:00pm Games, activities and coaching clinic
Sun 27 October 9:00am - 4:00pm Games, activities and coaching clinic
Sun 27 October 6:00pm - 11:00pm Pack-down assistance
Total pay for all roles is $500.
Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 29 per week
