**Te wero - The Challenge**
The goal of Te Hono is to establish high trust collaborative relationships with Iwi and Hapu and to align our services to consider Māori aspirations within our processes. Working as part of a team, the role will support Te Hono to continuously look for ways to co-design and co-develop outcomes for Māori whilst building internal capacity of council staff and elected members.
We are passionate about achieving enduring relationships with Māori but know that we are at the beginning of our journey.
You are someone who lives and breathes Te Ao Māori and are passionate about improving Council and Council staffs’ relationships with Māori.
**I ā koe - About You**
As Principal Advisor Te Hono, you will be a leader and champion of driving change in how we deliver services and programmes of work.
You will be a big-picture thinker and innovator, as well as a very practical implementer. Your extensive relationships with Māori and experiences will contribute to and influence internal policies and procedures that will improve our service delivery to Māori.
You will also be familiar with the challenges that face owners of whenua Māori - rating, environmental issues, the complexities of multiply-owned land.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Proficiency in Te Reo Māori me ona tikanga and knowledge of Mātauranga Māori.
- Past experience in a position which has seen you engaged and relationship building with Māori.
- The cultural competency to promote and demonstrate the value of Te Ao Māori and tikanga Māori, in FNDC
- A proven record in implementing
- A sound grounding in Te Ao Māori and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in a local government
