With a population of just under 50,000 with approximately 80% in the city of Tūranga-nui-a-kiwa Gisborne the region is culturally rich and unique with a high population of Māori (55%).
As an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Gisborne, you will be supported by two year one post graduate Doctors and two Registrars. The team are based on a ring-fenced ward for arthroplasty, shared with the rehabilitation team offering a highly valued service to the community. The on-call roster is provided by five Consultants with excellent support from the Orthopaedic community around New Zealand. The department provides general, acute and elective care with current sub-specialty interests including Hip and Knee Arthroplasty, Paediatrics and Sports Surgery. We are looking for a colleague to join the team with a sub specialist interest that would compliment and help build the department and services offered.
**Moū - About you**
To be part of our team, you will have:
- Registration as a Medical Practitioner with the New Zealand Medical Council of New Zealand or eligible for registration with the Medical Council to enable you to practice medicine within New Zealand.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in management of a variety of orthopaedic conditions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop partnerships and work collaboratively within a team
