About the role
The Northland District Intelligence Unit supports NZ Police leaders and officers to prevent crime and harm through exceptional policing in Northland District. Intelligence is used to inform deployment of resources, understand the criminal environment and crime problems, and facilitate evidence-based action and prevention.

We are looking to recruit Intelligence Analysts / Senior Intelligence Analysts to join the team based at either Whangarei Police Station or Kerikeri Police Station.

As a Senior Intelligence Analyst, you will demonstrate professional curiosity and adaptive approaches to using a range of analytic tools and methodologies to provide insight and foresight on a range of complex problems and issues. You will use your advanced critical thinking and team-focused approach to coach others on best practice Intelligence tradecraft, to support team development and foster a positive and productive team culture.

**Key Accountabilities (Intelligence Analyst)**:

- Proactively identify and analyse emerging or escalating trends in crime, crash and community reassurance, and propose potential solutions
- Appy analytical thinking skills and crime science theory to the analysis or crime issues
- Collaborate on projects and group analysis
- Contribute to core intelligence reporting and deliverables of the Unit
- Develop and maintain a wide range of positive relationships (internal and external).
- Take ownership of work through to the delivery of expected outcomes
- Great written and verbal communication skills
- A committed and positive attitude towards teamwork and professional development

**Key Accountabilities (Senior Intelligence Analyst)**:

- Assist in leading the development of people, products, and processes.
- Champion diverse worldviews, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, identifying opportunities to reflect these in Intelligence products.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop a high standard of written reports/presentations and provide clear and concise verbal briefings appropriate to a range of audiences.
- Work with limited supervision on complex analytical problems.
- Provide technical guidance in Intelligence analysis tools and coach junior members of the team to develop their Intelligence tradecraft.

Additional Information
- Intelligence Analysts in Northland may be required to rotate into a Tactical Intelligence Analyst role for a period of up to two years
- Shift work will be required
- Remuneration Range - Intelligence Analyst ($79,948 to $92,919)
- Remuneration Range - Senior Intelligence Analyst ($94,854 to $110,456)

Special Requirements
- New Zealand or Australian citizenship, or a permanent New Zealand resident
- Successful applicants must reside in Northland area.
- Hold the NZ Diploma in Intelligence Analysis (NZDIA) or equivalent or able to successfully complete relevant courses and associated work early in employment
- Hold a full driver license or be able to complete early in employment
