**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
Joining the Heritage Unit, in these two roles will see you make an important contribution to the identification and conservation of Tāmaki Makaurau’s unique heritage. This role will allow you to utilise your technical experience while developing strong relationships with a range of different stakeholders. As a Specialist or Senior Specialist you will provide analysis, insights, and recommendations on archaeology to support implementation, policy, and legislative requirements across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Be responsible for technical reports to support archaeological identification and recommendations. Prepare evidence and function as Council’s expert witness for plan changes, plan review, notified resource consent hearings, and, when required, Environment Court appeals with respect to archaeology. You will lead, manage, and deliver projects that identify, evaluate and connect Aucklanders to their heritage.
**He kōrero mōu: About you**
A tertiary, preferably post-graduate, qualification in archaeology or archaeological related field. You will hold a tertiary, preferably post-graduate, qualification in archaeology or archaeological related field. You will have a strong grounding in all facets of heritage, you will bring with you around 2 years of relevant industry experience, with 8+ years’ experience for the senior role. You will be a confident communicator and relationship-builder, with proven experience engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be comfortable engaging with members of the public in-person, through **online platforms**, as well as through other channels. With a knack for finding areas for continuous improvement, you will also be able to demonstrate an innovative and collaborative approach to problem-solving. Ideally, you will have experience in iwi engagement. As this role does require you to occasionally use Council vehicles, you will also need to hold a valid driver’s license.
