This high-profile chartered accounting and advisory firm with long history in the New Zealand market offers the full range of accounting, tax and business advisory services to a broad spectrum of SME clients.

The firm's clients vary widely and many of them are subsidiaries of substantial overseas entities with multi-million-dollar turnover. Current team dynamics and plans for further growth both in the short and the long term have created the need for an assistant manager to join this vibrant team and play a key role in its further growth.

Some of the main duties and responsibilities include:

- team supervision and reviewing
- assisting managers and partners with various team management responsibilities
- preparation of financial statements and tax returns
- budgeting & cashflow/forecasting
- managing the workflow for a portfolio of key clients
- various other ad hoc tasks and assignments

In addition to the essential technical competencies in client accounting and tax, this role requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to manage client relationship with some of the larger clients on a daily basis.

The diverse nature of the firm's clients means exposure to a wide variety of technical areas. To be successful in this key role you will need to have full CA or CPA qualifications complemented by a minimum of 4-5 years current BAS experience in the context of a sizeable CA firm.

This is a key role, part of a team of 15 professionals working under two partners, an associate and two managers. Due to the existing team structure and current team dynamics, this role offers the excellent potential for further career progression.

Here are some of the key competencies and personal attributes that are essential for this role:

- good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, MYOB and XERO
- previous experience with IFRS reporting in a CA environment
- previous supervisory/reviewing experience (this is a must for the role)
- good analytical and problem-solving skills
- proven organisational and time management skills
- excellent Interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
