Telecom Technician

requisites/Minimum Requirements: Qualification in Computing/Networking/Information Technology OR Telecommunications stream Minimum of 4 year relevant experience as Technician in the ICT/Telecommunications industry in NZ Chorus PTN training Full and Clean Driver's License Clean Police Clearance Record WTC1. WTC3, First Aid, Traffic control. Able to work as Technician unsupervised Strong communication skills - orally and in writing Be computer literate and have practical computer skills for connecting hardware Be fit and healthy The Health, Safety and Well-being of our staff and those we work around is of utmost importance to us and a key element of this role, the ability to display this on a daily, ongoing basis is essential.

Job Description: Reading and designing network plans, specifications and work areas to determine positioning and connections for equipment to be installed Installation of aerial or underground service lines from OFDC or CT box Joining fibre cables using fusion splicer, sealing sheaths and securing with thermoplastic and heat sink aluminium Installation of telecommunications equipment including IFDB, ITP,OFDC, FTP, BUDI, ONT, Jackpoints, patch panel and switchboards Locating fault using OTDR, Optical light source, test phone, tone probe, volt meter, cable locator and power meter Measuring power level of data transmission equipment like Nokia ONT G-140W-c, SFP G-200, G- 300. Replacing faulty equipment including APN, Jackpoints, STBs, and ONT Installation of Ethernet cabling for Computers, TV, Eftpos and test using FLUKE tester Configuring Residential Gateways and optical network terminals Full switch over services from copper to fibre network including Modem, Television, Telephone, FAX, Printer ,Alarms and Eftpos Installation of TV set top box Integrating voice over IP with existing copper and insure correct telephone voltage using volt meter or multi-meter Preparing drawings for documentation using Bluebeam software and iAuditor.

Position Summary: Establishing communications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment Planning network installations by studying client's orders, plans, manuals, and technical specifications and preparing AS built diagrams for record Maintaining existing equipment and ensuring it is running smoothly Troubleshooting faults and resolving them Documenting network by labelling and routing equipment. Working indoor and outdoor including telephone exchange, house, workshops, offices intersection manhole and on pole
