**We are seeking for a talented, passionate Diversional Therapist for our Palmerston North village

**This is a permanent role of at least 30 hours per week**

Work will be scheduled from Monday to Friday during morning shifts.

**Responsibilities include and are not limited to**:

- Create a recreational programme for seniors living in a care supportive environment.
- Provide active support to residents to participate and engage in the social life of the Care Centre and the wider village by understanding the residents’ interests and offering meaningful activities.
- Lead a culture of purposeful engagement which promotes dignity and independence through the therapeutic recreation process.
- Plan and implement a program of activities that empower residents to make choices, maintain control of their daily activities & enhance their wellbeing, ensuring all plans are aligned to Summerset policies.
- Effectively lead and participate in activities as needed, including involvement in residents’ functions, driving residents on trips and assisting in the transportation of residents to special appointments.
- Monitor, analyse and assess residents’ abilities and engagement, reporting progress against their plans as per policy guidelines.
- Maintain monthly expenditure records for approval.

**Qualifications**:
**You**:

- A minimum qualification of National Certificate in Diversional Therapy (Level 4) or equivalent. At least 3 years of relevant work experience may also be acceptable.
- Strong organisational skills, ability to multi-task and a positive “can-do” attitude
- Excellent interpersonal skills, empathy and a genuine interest in working with older people
- Current first aid certificate or willingness to undertake a two-day course
- Full & clean Drivers license & ability to drive a Mobility Van.
- Computer literacy with using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
