We do this by owning and operating a portfolio of thermal and renewable generation assets, giving us significant operating flexibility, while driving innovation, to put control in our customers' hands. Join us today as we empower New Zealand's sustainable future and grow the next generation of energy leaders.

**About the role**:
Based out of our Tokaanu site at the southern end of Lake Taupo, you will be operating our renewable energy assets located in the Tongariro, Waikaremoana, Tekapo and Waipipi power schemes remotely from the Renewable Energy Control Room. You'll be joining a team of passionate professionals responsible for safely, reliably, and efficiently operating renewable generation assets, ensuring optimised operations, while meeting trading/market requirements. As a Generation Controller you will ensure the safety of people and compliance with resource consents, adhering to safety and electricity regulation policy requirements while considering plant constraints and maximising generation.

**Responsibilities**:

- Remote operation of multiple hydro generation assets ensuring safe, compliant and optimised operations considering plant constraints.
- Optimising generation with the Trading and Wholesale teams through regular communication.
- Monitor, observe and respond to deviations ensuring generation and market requirements.
- Report, log and prioritise all plant related defects to ensure effective reliability, availability, and utilisation within the Asset Management framework.
- Incident Controller responding effectively to emergency situations ensuring the protection of people, environment, and plant.
- Actively support operational and maintenance planning and co-ordination processes together with driving operational improvement initiatives to enhance business performance.

**About you**:
We'd love to hear from you if you have previous operating experience in a High Hazard Facility and within process safety. A trade or tertiary qualification consistent with the role, for example electrical, mechanical or engineering, would give you a great foundation to start your journey in renewable energy production. Previous experience in electricity generation would be an advantage but is not essential as our team is set up to support and mentor new starters.

To ensure your success in the role, you will be put through comprehensive training programme for approximately 12-18 months (working Monday -Friday), before becoming active on the roster and working shifts - including nights, weekends, and holidays.
