**About the opportunity**
Our Bookkeeping service at Baker Tilly is growing, and we are looking for experienced bookkeepers to fill these roles.
As independent contractors, most of our Bookkeeping roles can be done in the comforts of your own home, with a visit to the client’s premises once a month and if deadlines are being met, you can decide when you work You can also decide how much work to take on to accommodate for your lifestyle.
**About you**
You will be able to hit the ground running as an experienced Accountant or Bookkeeper with some experience in larger commercial organisations or in a variety of smaller ones. Your varied experience will support you to deliver efficient and effective outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will also need:
- A good understanding of the basics of accounting.
- To be proficient using cloud-based accounting software (i.e. Xero etc).
- A solid and up to date understanding of basic NZ Tax law including GST.
- To be passionate about helping businesses in all areas of their internal systems.
- Good communication skills, both verbal & written.
- To be proactive, and an inquiring learner who is good at problem solving & thinking outside the square to find solutions for clients.
**The opportunity**
You will be fully supported by our team of Accountants so there is plenty of opportunity to learn and develop your knowledge while still working independently.
Your responsibilities as a bookkeeper may include:
- Coding bank transactions
- Performing month end activities such as balance sheet account reconciliation, revenue, inventory and WIP accounting etc.
- Preparing, reviewing and filing GST
- Preparing and reviewing finance reports on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Assisting in account receivables and payables activities including debt collection and advising clients of payments due
- Assisting with preparing documentation for accountant for annual and interim reporting
