**He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role**

Lived experience of mental health and addiction are valued at Emerge Aotearoa and we are actively seeking someone who has experienced their own recovery journey to join our team.

We're on the hunt for a culturally respectful and non-judgemental support worker to provide support to clients living in the community who are having trouble with their mental health or addiction. This is a chance to provide guidance and support to people in our community who need it the most.

As a Peer Support Worker, you will help our tangata whaiora to reach their potential.

Although there is a wide variety of activities involved, Community Support Workers help people with achieving as much independence as possible.

Your job will be to engage whaiora as well as possible while being able to relate to a wide group of external and internal stakeholders.

This is a part-time, 20 hours per week, working 8:30 am to 12:30 pm Monday to Friday.

**He kōrero mōu | About You**

To be successful in this role you'll need your own personal lived experience with mental health and/or addiction.
- Please include a half-page introduction/biography about yourself and what you have learned from your personal experience of mental distress or addiction challenges and your journey to well-being. What value has it had in your life?_

You'll use your non-judgemental attitude and belief to encourage clients to change and grow.

You'll look to celebrate the success of tangata whaiora while on their recovery and wellbeing journey.

You'll also have active listening and good communication skills, as well as being positive and encouraging with a good sense of humor.

To be successful in this role, it's desirable you will have either a Level 4 Certificate in Peer Support, Intentional Peer Support training (IPS), or a Certificate in Health & Wellbeing.

Teaching and facilitation skills would be preferred.

A full New Zealand Driver's License and the right to work in New Zealand (essential)
