**The Role**

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Research Assistant to join our multi-disciplined **Ecology and Environment Research Group**. In this role you will lead the implementation and management of field-based Forest Ecology and Management related scientific research. Your strong field ecological and botanical skills, excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail will enable you to effectively implement and maintain field trails and surveys whilst managing experimental design, trials logistics, and data collection.

You will have a passion for working in the field and confidence to work outdoors in remote locations at times, where you will lead and participate in data collection activities. Additionally, this role will involve coordinating research trials with technical teams and external collaborators, contractors, landowners, and clients. If you're an experienced Research Assistant looking to lead technical project teams and work collaboratively on innovative projects across Scion, then you will be the perfect addition to our **Forest Ecology and Management Team**.

**Requirements**:

- Relevant tertiary qualification (MSc or BSc in ecology, forestry, or plant science)
- Current full NZ Driver's license
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience and confidence to identify plant and tree species
- Capability to work independently and within teams
- Willingness to travel
