- Country/Region: Ne- City: AucklandWe are looking for an **Experienced Marine Fitter** to join our highly skilled team on the **_Devonport Navy Base._**

**About the role**

This role will report to the Unit Leader and undertake assigned activities that will include the Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul of Ship or Boat Propulsion machinery and auxiliary equipment (Small Craft & Tender Craft).

**Hourly Rates**
- **$37.50 per hour**:

- **$53 Time and a half**:

- **$71 Double time**:

**Key Responsibilities**
- MRO of Main Propulsion equipment such as gearboxes, bearings, shafting, propellers, rudders, stabilisers, bow & stern thrusters.
- Installation, repair, maintenance and set to work of auxiliary systems (Pumps, Coolers, Compressors, HVAC, Valves and Pipework, Hydraulics)
- Disassembly, repair and rebuild of both Main & Auxiliary propulsion machinery & equipment including any testing, repairing, replacing and aligning of components as required.
- Lead or assist other works as deemed appropriate to skill level & required H&S criteria.
- Conduct pre/post maintenance performance checks.
- Undertake surveys and assist with estimate development and recommendations relating to modifications, alterations and proposed maintenance.
- Manage new and emergent work in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Determine appropriate repair methods by ensuring adherence to applicable maintenance standards.

**About you**
- A trade qualifications or strong experience in mechanical engineering including small / medium boat systems
- Experience working on a variety of mechanical marine equipment and systems
- A good level of written and oral communication skills with proven experience in writing reports on faults, maintenance and commissioning
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, a cooperative, team player
