**The Position**

We have an exciting opportunity for a **Diversional Therapist** to join our team for 30 hours per week in our Pinehaven Orewa Facility, Auckland.

A Diversional Therapist is the soul of every workplace, is the person who keeps a smile against all odds.

We believe that every single person has a huge potential regardless of their age or ability and we do our very best to create joyful engagement for the people in our care.

In this position you will provide residents with opportunities that will enhance their quality of life. Working closely with the residents you will be able to identify their needs, interests, abilities and capabilities in order to improve their well-being with safety and dignity.

You will create and facilitate greater opportunities for social interactions whilst promoting inclusion, cohesion, and wellbeing.

Key tasks include but not limited to:

- To plan, organise and implement a comprehensive therapy program for each resident, reflecting their needs, abilities, interests, strength and weaknesses
- Adapting new programs that can enhance the resident’s well-being
- Evaluate and assess the individual’s ability and needs through task analysis
- Organise leisure and recreational activities
- Encourage and support each person to participate in activities suited to them
- Inform other staff and relatives about new activity programs
- Liaise with community groups, welfare agencies, staff and relatives about support resources available for the residents within the community
- Attend seminars, trainings, and update skills regarding leisure and recreational activities
- Assist with training and supervising volunteers and staff as required
