Marine Surveyor

**Overview**
We are a small team of surveyors in New Zealand and have a vacancy for a Marine Surveyor. The position is based in Tauranga in the North Island but involve travel to various North and South Island ports. Client support is an important aspect to the role. The position is ideal for an experienced Senior Rank Mariner who is confident and happy to work with a fair degree of autonomy / independence.
All applicants must be NZ based residents or have the right to work in NZ.

- We will offer a competitive wages of NZD 30 - 35 per hour depending on the experience and will encourage ongoing training and development.
The Role
As one of our experts you will assess the safety and integrity of our clients’ ships and offer sound technical advice on meeting industry standards. This means you will:
- Support existing ship surveys.
- Ensuring compliance with regulations pertaining to safety at sea and protection of the marine environment.
- Provide a great customer experience by incorporating customer feedback into our service delivery.
- Stay up to date with your knowledge via continuous professional development.
- Assess risk and work in a safe manner reporting all incidents and safety observations. A strong focus on Health and Safety is must.
What you Bring
You will be a trusted advisor with sound technical knowledge and the ability to work without supervision, as well as having:
- Minimum experience as Master, Chief Officer, Chief Engineer, or Second Engineer of a Bulk/Container carrier preferred. Marine Surveyor or Superintendent experience will be preferred.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexible and able to travel as ship schedules require including after hours, weekends and holidays.
- Positive Attitude.
- Degree or equivalent within a field of study such as Marine Engineering or Nautical Science.
- Keen to learn about ISM/ISPS/MLC audits.
- Strong reasoning skills using both theory and practical methods.
- A growth mindset and belief that customers are at the heart of all we do.
