**Meat Preacher - Butchery Assistant**

To assist with all aspects of meat preparation. To join our team, you must be trained in food and safety practices, be physically fit, have high attention to detail, be reliable and most importantly, you must love meat and good food

**Job Summary**:The role of a meat preacher is to become fully knowledgeable about all cuts of meats and cured products, to assist in the production of fresh sausages, salami’s, cured meats and smoked products. To assist with customer service. To provide assistance doing BBQ cooking at markets when required.

**Responsibilities**
- To assist with the following: Cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind meats, such as beef, pork, lamb.
- Prepare and place meat cuts and products in display counter, so they will appear attractive and catch the shopper's eye.
- To vacuum pack, weigh, label and price cuts of meat.
- To assist with shape, lace, and tie roasts, using boning knife, skewer, and twine.
- Receive, inspect, record temperatures and store meat upon delivery.
- To assist with the processes involved to Cure, smoke, tenderize and preserve meat.
- To collect money from customers when at markets and events.
- Prepare, pack and delivery account orders.
- **Most importantly a love of meat and good food is critical.**:

- A high degree of physical fitness is required for this position, and the ability to lift whole animals for processing.
- Full clean driver’s license required.
- Making Decisions and Solving Problems - Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work - Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Ability to communicate with colleagues and customers in English is essential.
- Some experience in the trade would be recommendable.
