Northpower is an electricity and fibre network provider for Whangarei and Kaipara, with more than 60,000 connected customers. We also provide contracting services to our partners other network owners and operators across the North Island. We have over 1,300 staff working together across 13 locations to keep the power on and the lights going for our customers.
An exciting opportunity has come up for an experienced Fibre Jointer/Technician to join our Whangarei Fibre Team.
**The role**
Reporting to the Fibre Field Services Manager, you’ll be responsible for providing specialist fibre jointing and installation services for the installation, maintenance and repair of fibre optic cables and equipment.
As a Fibre Jointer/Technician with us, you will:
- Work with customer connections, network extensions, maintenance, fault response and fibre blowing
- Be available for standby duties as required
- Provide specialised response to emergencies on the fibre optic network including after-hour faults
- Be responsible for the quality of install, time management of each install, and as built requirements

**About you**
To be considered for this role, you’ll need to be an experienced Fibre Jointer or Technician, ideally with experience in the NZ Telecom industry or someone who is keen on making a career in the utility industry. You will also possess:
- Experience with conventional fibre, micro fibre, structured cabling and SCADA
- NCES in Telecommunications Level 3
- A clean Class 1 drivers licence (Class 2 preferred)
- Proven experience with outside plant maintenance, fault-finding, fibre installations and jointing
- Ability to work afterhours on short notice
- Good interpersonal skills to communicate across all levels
- Comfortable working at heights
