Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to be part of an intern programme designed to develop knowledge and skills in diabetes education and clinical management to an expert level. The internship consists of three 9 month rotations across the major sub-specialty areas of the Diabetes Service and includes clinical supervision with a Clinical Nurse Specialist, support for post graduate study, professional supervision and preparation for prescribing.

Waikato's Regional Diabetes Service has about 60 clinical and non-clinical team members and operates from our Clarence Street clinic in Hamilton. The service includes Adults with Type 1 Diabetes, Adult Weight management services, Diabetes in Pregnancy services, Youth and Young Adult services and an Insulin Pump team in addition to an inpatients team. We have a multi-disciplinary team-providing medical, nursing, podiatry and dietetic support to the patients within our service.

Registered Nurse with current practicing certificate and a minimum 5 years post registration clinical experience

Have commenced relevant post-graduate study

Qualification/experience in adult teaching is desirable

A background in medical/primary care nursing would be an advantage
