**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Project Director will be responsible for delivering large complex projects within the agreed parameters of scope, time, budget, quality, and risk - to realise the identified goals.

The role requires planning and designing the project and proactively monitor and report on its overall progress to key governance groups, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate, while ensuring minimum disruption to ongoing hospital operations.

**Mōu | About you**

You will be a respected leader with demonstrated experience working at a senior management level across large and

complex programmes of work, preferably with extensive knowledge of the New Zealand Health Sector, business case development and health facility design.

You will lead the procurement and appointment of consultants, contractors and suppliers, and manage their activities to ensure they are commercially acceptable and safe practices are followed. You will establish and oversee the project workstreams, lead the project team, and ensure that best practice project management tools and methodologies are used, and that material remains relevant, including that quality reporting is developed and shared with the appropriate stakeholders.

You will be operating within an environment that demands a high level of senior stakeholder engagement, political

nous, financial management, strategic and critical thinking with a solid level of commercial/contractual acumen and a proven track record in creating high performing teams.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Significant Project Director and/or leadership experience in successfully delivering Infrastructure business cases with a project value of over $500m - preferably in a health context
- Proven experience establishing processes for identifying, managing and monitoring complex risks to project outcomes in particular project scope, programme and cost control and alignment of Hospital & Specialist Services requirements with the design and facility outputs.
- Relevant professional project management experience and confidence in understanding a variety of project processes and methodologies, such as MSP, PRINCE2, PMBOK or similar or demonstrated experience in project delivery.
- Political nuance, with an understanding how issues play out and what is important to key stakeholders and the Government of the day
- Experience managing the commercial performance of projects, ensuring timely and meaningful responses to challenges, issues and opportunities, and enabling sustainable levels of high performance
