About the Real Estate Authority The Real Estate Authority (REA) is the independent government agency that regulates the New Zealand Real Estate profession. Our purpose is to promote and protect the interests of consumers and promote public confidence in the performance of real estate agency work.
REA is a high performing respected conduct regulator with a critical role in the real estate sector. We license real estate agents, oversee the code of conduct, continuing professional development and the complaints and discipline process. We are a proactive, evidence-led regulator committed to supporting high standards of conduct in the profession and protecting consumer interests. The Role
As an intern at REA you'll gain work exposure to working in a regulatory environment and help us to drive diverse thinking in our work at REA. This will include supporting REA's Māori Engagement Strategy and enhancing the design of REA's an internship programme for REA.
The internship will also involve rotating within the different teams within REA and may involve supporting or undertaking administrative work across our teams. There will be some flexibility of the time spent in each team, and type of work depending on the interns areas of study and interests.

**The work may involve**:

- Supporting our regulatory services team, with quality assurance tasks to prepare for the Continuing Professional Development audit, and bulk renewal periods.
- Coordinating meetings and taking minutes
- Reviewing networks to support vulnerable consumers
- Supporting the Legal team in legal research and maintenance of legal resource databases
- Supporting the implementation of our carbon reduction plan
- Supporting our procurement activities by updating our contracts register
- Supporting the update of our consumer facing website, settled.govt.nz
- Support our work with diverse communities by maintaining or building databases of community groups and contacts. This may focus on connections with the Māori, Pacific and Chinese communities.

You'll be supported in your time at REA, with a dedicated buddy in place, and plenty of mentoring and development opportunities. You will gain knowledge of a regulatory environment, the real estate profession and how the Real Estate Sector works for consumers as well as training on various systems and processes.
About You

**Our ideal intern will**:

- Be currently undertake tertiary study within New Zealand, having completed at least two years of tertiary education
- Have a genuine interest in working in for a regulator or the wider public sector
- Have some administrative or customer service experience
- Understand or have experience in working with diverse groups of people
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work independently and take own initiative

This will be a paid internship for a period of up to 6 weeks, based in our office in Central Wellington. There may flexibility in hours worked, within our standard office hours (as we want to ensure that you are fully supported).
The internship commences on 15 January and ends on 23 February.
