**Te Tai Ōhanga - The Treasury** is the New Zealand Government's lead economic and financial advisor. Our vision is to be a world-leading Treasury working towards higher living standards for New Zealanders.

Reporting to the Deputy Secretary, Strategy, Performance and Engagement/Chief Operating Officer (COO) in our **Organisational Strategy and Performance** directorate. This key role is accountable for ensuring Treasury's work is well coordinated, prioritised, resourced, planned and aligned to our strategic priorities.

Importantly, working closely with the COO and other senior stakeholders, you will have overall responsibility for developing and supporting Treasury's organisational strategy, planning and performance that, together with excellence in how we operate as a Ministry, enable higher living standards for New Zealanders.

A key component of heading up the directorate will be your ability to influence and bring fresh thinking on the systems, processes and support for effective planning and coordination of our various work programmes. We want you to provide strong leadership on how we prioritise and deploy our people. In addition, it'll be in your remit to give assurance to the executive that we have a well-planned sequence of organisational change across Treasury.

You'll also be responsible for managing external stakeholder correspondence (OIA's, Ministerials, PQ's etc.) and ensuring our governance bodies are well supported to make informed and timely decisions.

**As Director, you will bring**:

- A track record at senior level in managing government support functions, strategic stakeholder management and organisational strategy development
- In-depth experience of the full range of management issues (people, resources, systems and processes)
- The credibility and communication skills to engage, persuade and influence senior decision makers whilst connecting issues and being aware of changing environments
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders, including understanding different stakeholder's motivations and the ability to influence
- Passion for building organisational capability and strong coaching skills to grow your team
- Insightful and innovative public sector analysis and advice and an ability to build authentic relationships through an inclusive and collaborative style.
