JOB PURPOSE/SCOPE: To support the Head of Kitchen and Secretary/Manager in ensuring the effective and efficient running of the kitchen buy ensuring that it is maintained in a clean and tidy manner.

To provide support to the Head of Kitchen and Secretary/Manager and other kitchen staff by preparing food and produce as required.

To be member focused always.

30-40 hours per week

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES/DUTIES:

- Ensure that the clubs high standards of customer service are maintained at all times.
- Wash dishes and remove rubbish.
- Offload and store food in line with the club’s stock receivables policies.
- Bring stock from storage to the kitchen when required.
- Wash and prep food for cooking.
- Ensure that the kitchen is maintained in a clean and tidy manner in line with the Food Act 2014 and Regulations and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
- Ensure that all surfaces and equipment is wiped down and clean.
- To follow the instructions of the Head of Kitchen and Secretary/Manager and to ensure all food preparations are in line with the menu.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is fully functional and meets Health and Safety requirements.
- To uphold the law as set in the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, Smokefree Environment Amendment Act 2003, the Food Act 2014 and Regulations.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as directed by the Secretary/Manager, Food and Beverage Manager, Head of Kitchen or other members of the management team.
- Report any irregularities in operation immediately to Secretary/Manager or other member of the Management Team.
- Attend any meetings when directed by the Secretary/Manager or other management.

GENERAL:

- A high standard of dress shall be maintained all times.
- Ensure members and visitors are treated in a polite and welcoming manner.
- Any person whose conduct, dress or language is objectionable to any other member or staff member be requested to leave the premises and formally report the matter to the Secretary/ Manager.

SAFETY AND SECURITY:

- Please ensure that you observe all Health and Safety Practices as set out by the law and the club always.
- Be familiar with the Club’s fire evacuation policies and procedures, accident and hazard identification and recording, with emphasis on the kitchen and food outlets.
- Comply with the Club’s policies and procedures.
- Be alert to both Club member and staff security in all areas. Report any irregularities to the Manager on Duty.
- Monitor security in and around the Club always.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

- National Certificate in Hospitality - (Basic Cookery)
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Law
- Knowledge of Food Safety Requirements and Relevant Unit Standards

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

- Experience within a commercial kitchen preparing food and using kitchen equipment.
- Honest and reliable.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A strong attention to detail.
- Positive and professional manner.
- Excellent personal hygiene.
- Good time management skills
