**About The Role**

The House Manager is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, engaged in the full life of the College and responsible for leading a group of approx 30 kitchen and cleaning staff. These teams have a significant impact on the overall quality of the student experience at College House.

This role is responsible for:

- The planning, design, overall co-ordination and profitability of events, conferences and dinners
- The day-to-day management of kitchen operations and housekeeping teams
- Ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the Kitchen and Dining Hall, maintaining excellent standards, so student nutritional requirements are met, and guests are catered for appropriately
- Recruitment of new staff, conducting appraisals, performance management and coaching, and dealing with any HR related issues
- Managing staff rosters, timesheets and resourcing
- Budgeting and expenditure for events, the kitchen and housekeeping functions.

**Skills and Experience**

You will have:

- Excellent interpersonal skills and can work collaboratively with a range of people.
- A basic understanding of employment legislation and experience with human resources functions such as recruitment, rostering, performance management and reviews.
- Proficient knowledge of office processes, policies, procedures, budgets and health & safety practices.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to establish priorities and manage workload.
- A high level of initiative, working effectively without constant and direct supervision.
- Proven ability to remain calm, courteous and cope under pressure.

An understanding of working in commercial kitchens and in hospitality may be advantageous - but is not necessarily required for success.
