**Overview of Role**

**_The role of _**Junior Nutrition & PR Consultant**_ (JNC) is an entrance opportunity into PR that helps build a consultant's skill set through exposure and implementation duties._**

It is the JNC's role to support the wider client team and assist with the coordination of operational aspects of all client activity. The role is key to the successful management and delivery of account teams but also provides consultants with the opportunity to develop in-depth skill and knowledge of the communications toolkit, from reports to pitching to strategy development.

Working with the Snr Nutrition Consultant and/ or Snr PR Consultant or MD, the JNC's role is to implement assigned activities in a timely manner, within budget and to a consistently high standard.

The consultant will also undertake other activities that contribute to the functioning of Network as a leading PR consultancy including some administration and office management duties.

**Responsibilities include**

**FoodGroup specific**:

- Critique and communicate nutrition-related publications and media coverage as required by a range of clients
- Escalate media enquiries and issues arising from media or other nutrition-related publications to the appropriate team member as soon as possible
- Continually review, analyse and build a current overview of established and emerging nutrition issues, in particular those relating to key clients
- Build and maintain knowledge of, and engage with, key influencers within the food, nutrition, health, education, research, science and physical activity sector

**Client related**:

- Develop a good working knowledge of how to implement tactical PR plans that support clients overall strategic direction
- Become familiar with and learn how to use all elements of the PR tool box
- Develop an understanding of how to take a clear brief for projects
- Produce insightful content, press releases, briefing documents, and other key PR documents to a consistently high standard (client ready)
- Be aware of the relevant media debate and industry insights that can be shared with the client
- Activity media monitor for client related issues across print, online, broadcast, social
- Successfully deliver elements of media relations programmes, and identify journalists, KOLs, bloggers, influencers, with Snr support. Proactively work to develop good working relationships with journalist etc that will be of benefit to the client and the agency
- Develop a good rapport with clients, be able to take client feedback
- Understand and work within budgets and timeframes for delivery of PR programmes
- Understand how to start developing accurate budgets
- Work within best practice, Network protocol (formatting, sign-off of documents, Network templates etc), and The Network Way
- On-going liaison with suppliers, clients, partner agencies as required and in consultation with Snr Consultants.
- Deliver communications between consultancy and client (as well as suppliers and other third parties).
- This includes appropriate and timely use of account management tools including work-in-progress reports, timelines, budgets, meeting agendas etc.
- Ensuring Snr Consultant is aware of all activities undertaken on behalf of Network on client accounts.
- Keeping records of all communications.
- Following internal and external sign off processes.
- Ensuring accuracy of all documents and materials.

**Agency related**

**New business**
- Identify opportunities for organic growth of accounts and discuss with MD
- Demonstrate a good understanding of the agency's offer and unique selling points (USPs), to help identify new business prospects
- Develop elements of new business proposals and take an active role in new business meetings

**Operational**
- Input timesheets and expenses correctly and on time
- Ensure all client billing is done in a timely manner in the first two weeks of the calendar month
- Manage WorkFlowMax, setting up new clients and new jobs
- Run time reports regularly to ensure projects are tracking on budget, identify overspends to Snr Consultant or MD as quickly as possible
- Manage third part costs
- Effectively manage any line reports working with senior team members for support
- Set clear objectives and expectations, and have regular WIPs to ensure progress
- Deliver constructive feedback professionally and as required

**Culture**
