Matairangi Kindergarten

Matairangi kindergarten is situated in Hataitai, close to Wellington’s CBD. We cater for children from around 18 months to 3 years old. We have 22 children on our roll each day, five of these children are under 2. Our children attend 6-hour sessions.

The kindergarten sits within the Hataitai Community House. There is a strong sense of community within Hataitai and the kindergarten is an important centre of community focus and communication. We serve a diverse mix of families, from within Hataitai and its neighbouring suburbs.

We enjoy a close relationship with Hataitai Kindergarten which is nearby as most of our children transition to Hataitai Kindergarten after attending Matairangi.

We are looking for a Head Teacher who will join our team of 3 teachers:

- actively contributes to, and engages in, reciprocal, collaborative learning-focused relationships with tamariki, whānau, the teaching team, support staff and other professionals
- implementing, and further developing, our te Tiriti o Waitangi based practice.
- distributed leadership, working collaboratively where you recognise and utilise the strengths within the teaching team.
- has highly effective and responsive communication that builds and maintains learning focussed partnerships with tamariki, whānau, colleagues and other professionals.
- has strategic thinking, with a clear ability to be evaluative and prioritise.
- leading and having oversight of curriculum implementation in a whānau based setting.
