**The Company**
This is a well-known and established business in the Bay of Plenty, a major employer in the region and a big operation across multiple sites with hundreds of permanent employees.

The area of the business you will be focused on is Fruit Packhouses and Cool Stores. So, think very high speed and very large capacity grading and fruit packing, plus storage, cooling, and supply of orders to customers, who are largely overseas.

**Context for this Hire**
Because of labour shortages and the efficiency gains of automation this company decided 5 years ago to change what they are doing and automate more. They work with project partners, but they are also insourcing more of the work themselves.

They also have an R&D team too that the Automation Team will work closely with. So, this role is newly created out of the company’s desire to do more automation.

**The Role**
The main requirement for this role is for someone to be automation savvy. They have Ignition SCADA, and Rockwell and Siemens PLC’s which will be some of your tools of the trade. But if you have used different brands of PLC and SCADA do still apply.

We also want someone who is passionate and has the capability to learn new things.

**Key Relationships**
You will work closely with the Automation Technical Lead and the company CTO. You will also create relationships with a wide variety of other staff that your projects will link in with.

**Working Environment**
Your work environment will be split circa 50/50 between the Head Office and the packhouses or cool stores. A nice mix giving you a change of scene and variety. For example, you might go out and see how the machinery is operating and how you can improve it.

**Hours**
This is a permanent role. The normal hours are 40 hours per week, and Monday to Friday most of the time.

The peak season (March to mid-July) bucks this trend for a short while, it’s all hands-on deck and you will do some overtime then. But your CTO will account for this by decreasing the hours you are required to work in the off season of Spring and Summer, with the goal of you working an annual average of 40 to 45 hours, pretty doable. I’m sure at this warmer and sunnier time of year you will appreciate being able to enjoy the long summer evenings, perhaps head to the beach after work

**No Overnight Travel**
This is a rare automation project engineering role where you don’t need to travel away from home overnight. Rather it will just be within work hours to the company’s various sites as required and using a company pool vehicle.
