The Press_ is looking for a **Journalist** with a hunger to tell the news which matters to our region, Te Waipounamu, the South Island, in compelling ways both digitally and in print media.

**Day to day, you'll be**:

- Generating and delivering accurate coverage of local, national or topic-based stories that are relevant and engaging to _The Press's_ online and print audiences.
- Growing expertise in one or more rounds with reliable and relevant contacts
- Finding and writing exclusive stories
- Adding valuable context and insight to breaking news stories

**To be successful in this role you will need**:

- The ability to innovate and generate fresh ideas
- The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across editorial and other departments and contribute as part of a team
- Journalistic skills including the ability to interview, write clearly and accurately, and to meet deadlines
- A desire to continually upskill and grow knowledge of audience and platforms
- An understanding of social media networks
- A desire to provide readers with high quality journalism and content
- The curiosity and drive to produce high-quality original work
- The capacity and desire to continue learning and participating in ongoing professional development
