**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

In this role your primary focus will be the delivery of in person research for the general public.

The Researcher Services Onsite team has the overall responsibility for staffing service points at Central Research, the Heritage collections reading room and Manukau research. This team delivers in person researcher services and supports the Researcher services online team with virtual research enquiries.

You’ll also be responsible for a range of general site-based Research Librarian tasks at Research Central including carrying out rostered reference desk shifts and retrieval and shelving of research collections. Research Central specialises in local, family history, New Zealand history and Māori research and we have one of the most comprehensive international family history collections in the Southern Hemisphere. You will use this collection to help you respond to queries from both virtual and in-person customers.

All members of our team play an active role in running our team meetings and contributing to team planning, process improvement and service development. A range of training and professional development opportunities will be available.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and flexible individual who is passionate about research. Previous experience or a strong interest in family history would be an advantage. You’ll need to be quick to pick up new skills, have great attention to detail and be committed to providing excellent service to a diverse range of customers. It’s vital you have the ability to develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of people. The ability to think creatively about service development and process improvement is also important in this role, as is a high degree of confidence with technology.
