We are looking for an experienced Otolaryngologist who is a transformational leader; providing clinical expertise to deliver quality care for our region.

Turanganui-a-Kiwa (Gisborne) is a small city of 50,000 people located in the first place to see the light in the world. The area is rich in natural beauty, surrounded by world class surf breaks and enjoys a Mediterranean climate. This is a place for those seeking a more laid back lifestyle with access to outdoor activities at the doorstep. With no traffic lights in town, home to work to other activities is only a short distance apart so you can enjoy life outside of a commute.

The 100 bed hospital is staffed with senior and junior doctors and does the basics well. More complex, critically ill patients are cared for at a tertiary centre.

You will see the full range of patients in this role and perform a variety of procedures such as endoscopic sinus surgery, middle ear surgery, facial skin cancer surgery and paediatric ENT procedures, all major head & neck surgery is currently carried out at Waikato Hospital. In this role, you will assist with the education and supervision of surgical staff and medical students.

There are ample opportunities to develop subspecialist interests, that will complement the department’s current service, with high levels of community unmet need. We enjoy good collegial relationships with other departments, allied medical health professionals and close links with tertiary services. The department is well equipped for all aspects of modern ENT health care.
