**Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity**

Downer Tree Services are a dynamic, professional, and highly experienced team who service multiple clients throughout the wider Wellington region. Our variety of work ranges from storm response within the urban and rural areas, large-scale project work, hazardous tree removal and routine urban tree maintenance, which includes Notable Trees and trees within the power network. We are Members of the NZ Arboriculture Association and have applied for NZ Arb approved contractor status.

We have a great opportunity to join our Wellington team as the Arboricultural Supervisor, if you are an experienced Arborist who is looking to branch out into a leadership role and are ready to transition from hands - on work but still roll up your sleeves and jump on the tools when needed then this role could be for you.

In this role you will be:

- Providing leadership and supervision of crews.
- Undertake project works and maintain trees in designated areas contracted to Downer ensuring that a high quality, responsive service is always delivered.
- Ensure a high level of safety is adhered to at all times to protect the public and other team members.
- Advise on species selection, site planning and overall tree management and care
- Examine individual trees to assess their condition, potential risks associated with limbs or trees falling, and determine treatment
- Maintaining and caring for tree and shrubs by pruning limbs and shaping branches using chain and handsaws
- Clearing trees from overhead electricity and telecommunications line

**Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills**
- National Certificate in Horticulture (Arboriculture) Level 4 or at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of Work Safe Guidelines and Arboriculture Codes of Practice
- A current full driver’s licence, with Class 2 preferred
- Naturally, you will have a positive attitude, have fantastic communication skills and be quality driven.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams.
- Demonstrated planning skills.
- Proven track record in project management
- Skilled climber with a proven track record
