Wellington, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Mō te tūnga | About the role
Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections) Health Services lead the delivery of patient-focused primary health care services to tangata within corrections facilities across Aotearoa. Hōkai Rangi, our over-arching strategic direction, places the focus on health at the heart of our business. Building our frameworks from a Matauranga Māori basis is our focus to drive and support equity for Māori, which in turn will contribute to achieving our outcomes of reducing reoffending.
Te Whare Manaakitanga (TWM) is a purpose built 30-bed intensive treatment unit for men considered to have a high risk of violent offending. It is based in Rimutaka Prison and is one of four units in New Zealand where the Special Treatment Unit for Men with Violent Offending (STU: VO) programme is delivered.
Your core task at TWM will be to recruit, assess and develop individualised treatment plans for 10 men. You will subsequently co-facilitate the nine month cognitive-behavioural group treatment programme with the 10 men, complete specialist reports outlining their treatment progress, and consult on reintegration pathways for the men post-programme. All staff will also have the ability to design and deliver complementary individual treatment sessions as appropriate, have an active role in the running of TWM's ‘community of change' environment designed to provide participants with opportunities to rehearse and generalise the skills acquired in treatment sessions, and get to benefit from the expertise of our full time Kaupapa Māori Practitioner who guides cultural practises in our whare. Senior psychologists will have further opportunities to provide clinical supervision and training.

Benefits of Working at Te Whare Manaakitanga (TWM) in the Department of Corrections:

- Make a positive difference in the lives of high-risk offenders and the community by helping in their rehabilitation.
- Work together with a supportive team of experienced psychologists.
- Enhance your expertise in Forensic and Clinical Psychology through diverse evidence-based techniques and therapies.
- Receive regular supervision, ensuring continuous professional development.
- Receive a competitive salary, reflective of your skills and experience.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The salary range for the role is $83,286 - $133,370. We may also offer part-time options for working hours. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
International Relocation Package
- Freight forward of $10,000
- 4-weeks accommodation
- 4-weeks rental vehicle hire
- Airport transfers of up to $300 and any stop-over accommodation

To apply, please submit a tailored CV and a cover letter describing your motivation for joining the department highlighting relevant skills and experience. Alignment to our kaupapa is critical to our success - we ask that you provide examples which reflect and demonstrate our organisation values.
Applications close Sunday 26th November
