Tūranga is an award-winning library, combining modern architecture, cutting-edge technology, world-class customer experiences and community spaces. This role is based on the vibrant Hapori/Community floor, which offers a family friendly environment with a wide range of interactive opportunities and collections for children and youth.

**About the role**

In this rewarding role you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge and engage with youth and other customers. The Hapori floor reflects our community and what libraries offer in the 21st century. We offer a safe and friendly space for youth to study, meet friends, find their next great read, play video games, sit down with a boardgame or just hang out.

You will build relationships with regular customers. You will know a bit about their life, what they are studying, and their favourite types of books. You will create a safe and welcoming space for regular customers, Christchurch locals and those who are visiting our city. You will help to build a collection that attracts and engages young people, and create resources that connect them with their next great reads.

**Requirements of the role**
- Diploma level 5 qualification library qualification or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years relevant library experience
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding in the specialist area of young adult librarianship, including collection management and programming
- Strong ability to adapt and learn new technology

**_ Additional Recruitment Information:_**

**_ Hours: Permanent, part-time position 30 hours per week (scheduled Wednesday - Saturday, including one evening shift to 8pm)_**

**_ Salary: $30.13 - $33.48 per hour_**

**_ Location: Primarily based at Tūranga Central Library, 60 Cathedral Square, Christchurch_**
