Work 1:1 with your client, with support from caregiving team
- 2- hourly morning sessions to cover Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, Sat (to share)
- Wound care, amazing assessment skills & compassion all essential

Our client is a 15 year old male who lives at home in Christchurch with his parents and older brother. He has Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa-generalised severe, requiring extensive wound cares, 5 days a week.

The home is well set up to accommodate his needs, and each session is also attended with a caregiver to assist.

**_What will you do?_**
In addition to dressing changes, this client needs assistance with removing previous dressings, bathing (using hoist) and administering new dressings and medication
- a process which takes around 2- 3 hours with 2 people, from around 8.30-10.30 a.m per session.

Providing reassurance, using calming techniques, sensitivity and patience, you will need to understand the anxiety and tension these sessions can create, the pain, trauma and frustrations of your client, and be able to work with this.

Understanding of teens and males in particular, would really help, although not essential-more important is your compassion, your ability to go with the flow and let the occasional outburst wash over you.

**_What will you need?_**
- Current NZ Nursing registration and APC
- Several year's nursing experience
- Experience in wound care and clinical assessment/judgment
- Ability to work closely with others and build rapport
- Patience, love for what you do, and the people you care for
- Tenacity, maturity and ability to deal with patients who are anxious and in pain, and at times can be upset.

Given the nature of his condition and previous trauma dealing with the daily clinical cares and difficult dressings, we need some special nurses here.

Ideally you will have significant experience in wound care, but also in dealing with patients who are in pain and at times feel frustrated, as we all would be.

There is also access to training and support from DEBRA, (the charity providing resource, support and guidance to the carers of these clients), as well as his psychologist.
**Specific training will be provided.**

**Choose which days you would like to cover, and let's get the ball rolling.**
We need to begin as soon as possible, due to members of the current team on sick leave.
