**About the role**
The Eastern District Intelligence Unit supports Police decision makers to prevent crime and harm through exceptional policing. Intelligence is used to inform deployment of resources, understand the criminal environment and crime problems, and facilitate evidence-based action and prevention.
Your role will involve discovering new sources and scanning existing information sources to understand the crime and harm environment and provide informative and actionable Intelligence.
You will be fulfilling daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly requirements. You will work on tasked projects while also having the freedom to initiate intelligence effort on self-identified problems.
While data is an important part of the role, this is not a data analyst role, and much of the role will revolve around qualitative information that requires accurate, relevant and timely assessment and interpretation.
The work you do will impact on Eastern District strategic goals, operational prioritisation, criminal investigations, prevention projects, and tactical decision making.
Key Accountabilities:
- Deliver quality written intelligence products.
- Verbally brief intelligence assessments.
- Provide direct support to police operations.
- Support national operations and associated intelligence functions.

**Special requirements**
- New Zealand or Australian citizenship, or a permanent New Zealand resident
- Successful applicants must reside in wider Hawkes Bay
- Hold the NZ Diploma in Intelligence Analysis (NZDIA) or equivalent or able to complete NZDIA modules early in employment
- Hold a full driver license or be able to complete early in employment
