This position is to undertake research on identifying key microbial processes that control soil carbon cycling.
- This position is 3-year fixed term, full time, reports to Capability Leader, Land Use and Ecosystems Team, and is based at our Lincoln site._

You will possess a PhD in biological science, soil science, bioinformatics or related field with a strong background in the analysis and interpretation of large metagenomic datasets. You will demonstrate an understanding of soil microbial processes related to carbon cycling in production or natural ecosystems, including grasslands and/or forests. A strong background in bioinformatics and multivariate statistics is required. You will have a good understanding of molecular techniques including data uses and limitations. Experience in leading and conducting fieldwork, including soil and plant sampling. You will be a well-organized, flexible, pragmatic, and reliable individual who enjoys working alone or as part of a team. The ability to work to high standards and within deadlines is essential.

The salary for the role is between NZ $80,000-$90,000 depending on experience.
