**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Regional Strategy and Operations team as **Public Health Communications Lead.**

This is a senior role in the Strategy and Operatons Team and National Public Health Service (NPHS).

**The key importance of this position is **on the collection, framing and dissemination of public health information that will enable staff, communities and whānau to have access to information and advice that will allow them to make informed choices on health and wellbeing that will support the achievement of Pae Ora.

**Mōu | About you**

You are a communications, journalism, marketing, public relations or media management expert, who has worked in public health or related sectors. You demonstrate a proactive commitment to increasing the accessibility of public health communications and working collaboratively and effectively with clinicians, protection, promotion and prevention leaders to ensure this. You are skilled in contributing to strategies and planning, prioritising, delegating, and organising work to deliver on short and long-term objectives. You have held, at a leadership level, responsibility for developing, maintaining, and influencing effective relationships and partnerships across the health system, sectors and organisations, including with Māori, Pasifika, Whaikaha and other groups.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Relevant Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, marketing public relations or media management
- Minimum three years communications experience in the health sector
- Proven expertise in handling technical and clinical information
- Proven expertise in use of social media, and website platforms
- Demonstrable understanding of kawa and tikanga and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi & some experience working in partnership with iwi & Māori communities
- Demonstrable understanding & experience working in partnership with Pacific communities
