**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced counsellor or psychologist with health experience to provide counselling services for people with Long Term Conditions including diabetes, kidney, stroke and heart disease, as well as Bariatric surgical service.

This position is based at Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti, Gisborne Hospital. The setting is predominately outpatient with some inpatient consultations. Flexible working situation is encouraged, including working from home, and in the community (in clients homes where appropriate), as well as telehealth.

This position entails assessment and therapy with individuals or/and their whānau/support persons. The service is predominately for adults (over 16years), or caregivers of children with Long Term Conditions e.g. Diabetes (where service is not covered elsewhere). This position would suit a clinician with experience in supporting people through health journeys and knowledge of disease states as well as treatments.

You will be part of a wider Long Term Conditions and Bariatric Multi-disciplinary team base in Tui Te Ora, Gisborne Hospital. As the sole clinician working in the counselling space however, leadership, professional advocacy and ensuring quality service provision and development will sit with this role and as such it is best suited to an advanced or expert practitioner. The successful applicant would develop relationships within the wider medical teams and external social and support agencies and other networks.

This role is covered by multiple applicable MECA's;
The remuneration range for this role is $88,806 to $116,691, when covered by the Psychologists scale in the PSA Allied MECA Allied, Public Health & Technical Collective Agreement.

The remuneration range for this role is $87,999 to $104,108, when covered by the Psychologists scale in the CEA APEX Psychologists MECA.

**Moū - About you**

Key accountabilities for the role include:

- Delivering counselling services to patients with Long Term Conditions and going through Bariatric Surgical pathway and/or their whānau
- Developing and leading quality initiatives for service provision
- Create and develop relationships with patients, as well as wider MDT and key stakeholders (internal and external)

The successful applicant/s will have:

- registration with the NZ Psychologists Board or the NZ Association of Counsellors
- hold a valid annual practicing certificate
- at least 5 years’ experience in the health sector, with mental health, cancer and/or hospital experience desirable
- a full New Zealand license and the ability to travel
