**_ About our team/Mō te tīma_**

The Department of Food Science at the University of Otago delivers an outstanding teaching and research experience. The Department distinguishes itself by concentrating on fundamental sciences including chemistry, microbiology, sensory/consumer science, it also explores consumer attitudes, food policy and regulatory environments.

In addition to our undergraduate degree programmes, we run a successful postgraduate programme and conduct innovative research in collaboration with other departments, universities, and organisations in New Zealand and around the world.

**_ The role/Te mahi_**

Our team of Technical Staff work closely with staff and students to provide technical support for the Department’s teaching, research, and external engagement programmes.
- The primary focus of this role is to:

- Provide technical support to Food Teaching Laboratories and ensure the smooth functioning of food grade laboratories for teaching and research.
- Support laboratory set up and clean down, according to protocols.
- Ensure laboratories and equipment are maintained to a high standard.
- Play a proactive part in meeting required health and safety standards.
- Play an active part in the technical team.

**_ Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako_**
- We are looking for a self-motivated individual with:

- a tertiary qualification (Bachelors degree or higher in Food Science); and
- experience in a Food Grade laboratory facility.
