Auckland City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Ko mātou tēnei | Who we are
Te Komihana Tauhokohoko | The Commerce Commission is Aotearoa New Zealand's competition, fair trading, consumer credit and economic regulatory agency. Our mission is to make New Zealanders better off by ensuring our markets work well and consumers and businesses are confident participants in those markets.

We are seeking expressions of interest from analysts at all levels - Assistant Analyst, Analyst, Senior Analyst - to join our Market Regulation branch. We have a range of permanent and fixed term opportunities, based in our either Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) office or Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) office.

The Market Regulation Branch is responsible for improving competition outcomes in our regulated markets. We have Analyst opportunities at all levels across all of our teams - telecommunications, fuel, dairy, retail payment systems and grocery.

Mō te tūranga | About the role
Working as an Analyst in the Market Regulation branch no two days are the same. You will have the opportunity to showcase your analysis skills which could vary from qualitative and quantitative analysis to economic and legal analysis as well as policy and engagement work. This is a role with true variety where your work directly impacts everyday New Zealanders.

In a nutshell, you'll work on multiple projects within multi-disciplinary teams made up of lawyers, economists, project managers and technical specialists. You'll gather and critically analyse information, identify key issues, draw logical conclusions, develop solutions and help present these back to our decision makers.

He kōrero mōu | About you
A valued team player, you'll be experienced working in a fast-paced environment and bring a proactive and solutions-focused approach. You'll be able to think, write and communicate clearly and offer sound critical thinking skills. You'll also be comfortable presenting to stakeholders at all levels.

**Ideally you'll have experience or knowledge of the following**:

- the ability to prioritise, focus on high value outputs and resolve challenging problems
- relationship management skills
- policy or regulatory experience
- the ability to understand accounting and economic principles and interpret legislation.

A university degree in an analytical field (e.g. accounting, commerce, law, science, or statistics) would be an advantage but is not essential.

We know that a diverse team with a range of life and work experiences enables high performance and innovation. If you're excited about this role and think you have what it takes, but your experience doesn't align 100%, we still want to hear from you and would encourage you to apply.

Te wāhi mahi | Working here
We're friendly and collaborative and enjoy contributing to our shared vision of making New Zealanders better off. Career growth and development is not only supported and encouraged, it's a part of everyday life here. We also offer a range of benefits to show that we'll value your mahi, including generous leave entitlements, study support, a range of wellness initiatives and competitive remuneration.

We are committed to our people's wellbeing. Any support needed is freely given, providing the opportunity for everyone to thrive. Our flexible working options are key to supporting that goal and our people have the technology they need to make it happen. We even offer a contribution to working from home set up costs. Our environment is inclusive, and our people know they are free to be their authentic selves at work and structure the way they work to suit their lifestyle.

Ka pēhea te tono mai | How to apply

Our recruitment process is fair, inclusive and free from bias and we encourage our applicants to let us know if we can make it more user friendly for them. We are an equal opportunity employer. We value diverse perspectives and the contribution every one of our people makes to our culture. Put simply - you can be yourself here.
