Mō te tūnga | About the role
We are running a transformation programme to implement the Ministry's Digital Strategy, which focuses on the delivery of digital projects and programmes across the organisation.
The Data Engineer will be a member of the Data Management team helping lead the Ministry's data management practice, platform, processes and products to enable the Digital Transformation.
The Data Engineer will cover two key roles in the team. You will be lead the ingestion and storage phases of the data management pipeline and will also be responsible for administering and maintaining the data warehouse and information products resulting from it.
You will manage the adoption of good enterprise scale data management practices and processes, helping keep MfE up to date with modern approaches to warehousing, especially automation tools.
A key focus of the role will be to identify and drive opportunities for improvement and look at new and improved ways of doing things.

**You will also bring**:

- demonstrable theoretical or practical experience working with data architecture and data warehousing, Government context preferred
- Comp. Sci. or Data Science/Management qualifications: e.g. agile certification, Data Vault 2.0, DAMA Certified Practitioner or Foundation Accredited
- strong analytical, coding and data management skills
- ability to prioritise competing demands to meet deadlines in a in a fast paced, complex environment
- commitment to developing your cultural capability and capacity in te ao Māori.

Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $105,802 to $128,424 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
