Mō te tūnga | About the role

NZ Police is about to implement a new enterprise workflow and case management platform using an international market leading product. We have an exciting opportunity for someone with a good software development background to make a career switch into the realm of workflow/low-code development.

The new platform will provide case management and workflow capability that will integrate with existing Police platforms/services and enable Police to enhance interaction with the public. The platform is expected to support business processes, information flows, reporting and data analytics.

You will be provided with on-line and on-the-job training to enable you to become proficient and obtain certifications in development on this new platform.
You will be working in an agile product team comprised of other NZ Police employees as well as platform experts from our technology partners.
If you are selected for interview, we will be able to provide you with full details of the platform that we will be using. However, you will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement prior to interview due to commercial negotiations that are still being completed.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Contribute to the software development lifecycle to define, design, develop, and implement custom software solutions using the low-code workflow platform.
- Assist in understanding the business processes and technical needs and collaborate with team members to gather functional and technical system requirements. Identify opportunities in the existing processes that can improve efficiency.
- Write and maintain program code to meet system requirements, system designs, and technical specifications in accordance with quality accredited standards, and support the researching, analysing, and evaluating of system program needs including integrations with other systems.
- Test, diagnose, and fix defects within established testing protocols, guidelines, and quality. Contribute to the troubleshooting of technical issues and identify modifications needed to meet changing user requirements.
- Assist in the design of the relational data model and in analysing data contained in the database to identify data integrity issues.
- Ensure software maintains data integrity, security and best practice standards
- Be an enthusiastic, collaborative and highly contributing member of the team

The role is based at the NZ Police College at Porirua, which allows you to see first-hand many aspects of the training of new Police recruits. There are also on-site facilities such as a gym and a café that you can use. We support a hybrid working environment so you can work from home a portion of your week if that suit.

- Solid experience of working as a software developer
- Note that whilst there is no experience in a particular development technology required, experience as a Java developer or a workflow/low code developer is a plus
- Good knowledge of SQL
- Exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS); Artificial Intelligence (AI), Analytics, Machine Learning, Google Cloud, Application Integration, Database, Developer Tools, and Elastic Containers is desirable
- Highly adaptable to rapidly changing environments and situations.
- Effectively prioritises work

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Customer service oriented
- Good experience working in an agile team with strong knowledge of agile practices and rituals
