**Kaiārahi Pāpori // Social Worker and Team Leader**:
- Mix of team leadership and hands-on social work
- Work as a valued member of a team giving holistic wraparound services
- Based in Rotorua; play a pivotal role in helping grow the service
My client helps to transform the lives of people with critical housing needs in Rotorua by supporting whānau to find a home and community that allows them to thrive.
The team takes a holistic wellbeing approach - whānau are supported by a team of skilled professionals who address the immediate needs and provide wraparound support to those who need to seek and secure long-term sustainable housing.
In this newly created role, you will coordinate and oversee the delivery of my client’s transitional housing service and lead a team of two. It’s anticipated that 20% of the time will be spent in the team leadership capacity and 80% will be hands-on social work, working as part of the team. This may change in time as the service grows.
As a Social Worker, you will deliver a professional, empathetic and effective service to people and whānau/families needing long term sustainable accommodation. This includes connecting them with other programmes and external services that enhance their current circumstances and meet individual and whānau needs.
You will listen, relate and affirm people in such a way that they are encouraged to examine their issues and create solutions that lead to sustained independence (passing knowledge and power to a person so they can regain independence).
This is a highly relational role, and therefore the ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively as a team and with other stakeholders is critical.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a hard-working team with a commitment to supporting whānau, and to work with a long-standing social service provider partnering with the community to tackle homelessness in Rotorua.
This is a full-time position for 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
**Person profile**:
- A qualified Social Worker with SWRB registration
- Previous leadership experience
- A strong desire to improve the social and economic wellbeing of people in Rotorua
- The ability to understand and relate to people from a diverse range of backgrounds with sensitivity, care and patience
- The ability to engage clients in a way that they feel they’re in control and take responsibility; utilising whakawhanaungatanga and establishing rapport quickly
- A high level of empathy and personal integrity
- Very highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Strong relationship building and networking capabilities at all levels
- A clean, full New Zealand drivers’ licence
